Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I facing right, depicted in armour with elaborate pauldron and lace cravat, his long flowing curly hair falling over his shoulders. The emperor's portrait is rendered in high relief in the Baroque style characteristic of late 17th-century German thalers. The circular legend reads LEOPOLDVS AVG IMP CAESAR, separated by pellets, running along the inner border of the coin. The outer rim is decorated with a fine milled border.
