Reverse description Full-length figure of the Wild Man (Wilder Mann), the heraldic emblem of Brunswick, standing facing in the center of the field. The figure is depicted as a hirsute, wreath-crowned male wearing a leafy girdle, holding a uprooted pine tree as a staff in his right hand and a branch or bough in his raised left hand. Mint-master initials R and B appear in the lower left and right fields respectively. The surrounding Latin legend REMIGIO ALTISSIMI ANNO.1679 encircles the design, reading 'By the grace of the Most High, in the year 1679.' The composition is executed in a vigorous baroque style within a milled border.
