| Obverse description | Armored bust of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II facing right, featuring a prominent large knot-shaped mantle fold at the shoulder. The date appears in the field before the bust, and the legend is divided primarily in the obverse field. An inner beaded or leaf circle frames the portrait, typical of late 16th- to early 17th-century Habsburg thalers. The effigy is rendered in the detailed, highly stylized manner characteristic of Alsatian mint production of this period. |
