Obverse description Half-length effigy of Duke Philip II facing right, depicted in elaborate full plate armor with ornate detailing and a ruffled collar visible at the neck. The figure holds a sword or marshal's baton and is shown with a bearded visage. The surrounding Latin legend identifies the ruler by title and territory. The coin field is occupied almost entirely by the imposing armored bust, rendered in the bold, high-relief style typical of late 16th-century German Thaler coinage. A beaded border frames the entire design.
