Obverse description Bearded armored bust of Paul Sixtus I facing right, wearing a ruff collar and the badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended at the chest, set within a beaded inner circle. The dignified effigy is rendered in high relief in the style typical of early seventeenth-century South German thalers. The surrounding legend is divided by the bust and reads in Latin, identifying the issuer by name and title.
