Obverse description Armored bust of Archduke Leopold V of Austria facing right, wearing a crowned helmet and elaborate plate armor with decorative detailing; a small crowned heraldic shield is held before the chest. The date appears in the field to the right of the bust. The circumferential legend reads LEOPOLDVS D G ARCHI DVX AUSTRIAE, interrupted by the bust. The Salzburg countermark, applied in 1681 under Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg, is stamped in the field, countermarking this earlier Tyrolean thaler for circulation in Salzburg.
