| Obverse description | Draped bust of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, her hair arranged in elaborate curls and dressed with a brooch at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine engraving detail on the lace and drapery. The circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading M·THERESIA·D·G· to the left and R·IMP·GE·HU·BO·RE· to the right. The field is smooth and the milled border is clearly defined. The portrait style reflects the early Habsburg court engraving tradition of the mid-eighteenth century. |
