| Obverse description | A rampant lion passant to the right occupies the central field, rendered in bold relief in the Germanic hammered style. To the left of the lion, a quartered shield bearing the arms of the Lordship of Jever is displayed. The circumferential legend in Latin characters reads MAR G D V FR TH IE RVS OST VN VVA, identifying Maria, Lady of Jever, Frisian heiress, and her associated territories. The coin's surface shows the characteristic irregular flan typical of mid-16th century hammered coinage. A beaded inner border separates the central devices from the outer legend. |
