Obverse description Armoured bust of Ludwig Rudolf, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, facing right, wearing elaborately decorated plate armour with a lace cravat and flowing curled wig, engraver's initials visible at the lower left truncation. The peripheral legend in Latin runs clockwise around the effigy, separated from the coin's finely milled border. The portrait is rendered in the high-relief Baroque style characteristic of early eighteenth-century German coinage.

Reverse description A wildman (Wilder Mann), the traditional heraldic supporter of Brunswick, stands at centre, holding an uprooted pine tree in his left hand and a crowned oval coat of arms of Brunswick-Lüneburg in his right hand. The Roman numeral date MDCCXXVII appears within the upper legend, and the mintmaster's initials HCH are placed in the exergue below. The Latin motto legend encircles the central device, and the whole composition is enclosed within a finely milled border consistent with the obverse.
