Reverse description The reverse displays the prancing horse of Brunswick leaping to the left in high relief, set upon a finely engraved ground line suggesting a landscape. The horse, a traditional heraldic symbol of the House of Welf and the Duchy of Brunswick, is depicted with flowing mane and tail in a dynamic, naturalistic Baroque style. The circumferential legend VESTIGIA PREMO MAIORVM arcs around the upper field, translating as 'I follow in the footsteps of my ancestors.' Below the ground line, the Roman numeral date MDCCXXV appears, with the mint master's initials H.C.H. engraved beneath, and a small mintmaster's mark below that. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed milled border.
