| Obverse description | Elaborate quartered coat of arms of the County of Stolberg occupying the central field, surmounted by two ornate crested helmets with mantling; the shield incorporates the traditional Stolberg heraldic charges including the chevron, checky, and lion elements associated with the four co-ruling counts. A beaded inner circle frames the arms, with the lengthy Latin ownership legend distributed around the periphery in capital letters. The hammered flan exhibits characteristic irregularity at the rim consistent with mid-sixteenth-century German minting practice. |
