| Reverse description | Crowned imperial double-headed eagle displayed in the center of the field, its wings spread, each head facing outward, with orb and scepter in its talons. The elaborate quartered shield of the Habsburg hereditary lands is superimposed on the eagle's breast, bearing the arms of Austria, Burgundy, Castile, León, Bohemia, and Silesia among others. The mint-master's initials SHS appear in a cartouche at the base of the design. The date 1683 is incorporated into the upper portion of the surrounding Latin legend, which runs along the periphery within a beaded border. |

The dating range of 1683–1684 places this thaler squarely within the Ottoman siege of Vienna and its immediate aftermath. The Breslau mint, operating under Silesian authority within the Habsburg domain, ramped up production during this period partly to fund the war effort — the relief of Vienna in September 1683 required enormous logistical and financial mobilization across the empire's constituent territories. Silesia was among the contributing regions.
Davenport 3295 is a well-documented type, but examples attributable specifically to the 1684 date tend to appear less frequently in auction records than the 1683 strikes.
