Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of Duke Leopold Friedrich of Anhalt-Dessau occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed portraiture. A peripheral legend encircles the bust, reading LEOPOLD FRIEDRICH HERZOG VON ANHALT, terminating with the mint mark A at the base. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut, consistent with mid-19th-century German medallic convention.

Reverse description The central field displays the crowned combined coat of arms of the House of Anhalt, incorporating both the familial and smaller territorial escutcheons. A single oak branch flanks the shield on either side, symbolizing dynastic strength. A two-line inscription at the top denotes the denomination, while the lower legend commemorates the division of Anhalt in 1603 and its reunification in 1863. The full peripheral and internal lettering reads: * HERZOGTHUM ANHALT * EIN THALER 30 EIN PF. F. GETHEILT 1603 VEREINT 1863.
