Obverse description Draped bust of Bishop John Philip of Schönborn facing right, with long flowing hair, the episcopal cross and armor visible at the truncation. Below the bust appears the quartered arms of the bishopric within an ornate heraldic shield. The encircling Latin legend is divided across the upper and lower fields, reading in two lines around the periphery.

Reverse description The Virgin Mary, crowned and nimbed with a halo, stands in full figure facing front upon a crescent moon, holding the Christ Child on her left arm while bearing a sceptre in her right hand. Her robes flow in baroque drapery. The surrounding Latin legend reads INTESPERANTIB CLYPEVS OMNIBVS, proclaiming her as the shield of all who hope in her, with a small cross separating the legend.
