| Obverse description | Draped bust of Abbot Johann III of Henneberg facing right, depicted in ecclesiastical vestments with short hair, set within a beaded inner circle. The date 1539 is divided by the bust, with '15' to the left and '39' to the right in the field. The surrounding Latin legend reads IOHAN D G ABB FVL CO & DNS IN HEN, identifying the issuer as Johann, by the grace of God Abbot of Fulda, Count and Lord of Henneberg.
