Obverse description Central field occupied by a large quartered armorial shield of the Counts of Mansfeld, displaying the dynastic quarterings including the characteristic diamond-lozenge pattern and heraldic eagle, supported by elaborate mantling and surmounted by multiple crested helms with foliate and figural crest ornaments. The date 79 (for 1579) appears within the field above the shield. A beaded inner border frames the composition, with the circular Latin legend naming the five co-ruling counts — John George, Peter Ernest, John Albert, John Hoyer, and Bruno — distributed around the outer rim.
