Obverse description Armored bust of Margrave John George of Brandenburg facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and elaborate plate armor, with a scepter or baton visible at his side. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Germanic Renaissance style, occupying the full height of the coin's field. A beaded inner circle frames the design. The Latin legend encircles the bust, reading IOHAN.GEORG.D.G. MARCHI.BRAND., identifying the ruler by name and title as Margrave of Brandenburg by the grace of God. The date 1611 appears in the lower field beneath the bust.
