Reverse description Elaborate, ornately rendered heraldic shield bearing the manifold quartered arms of the duchy, with the central escutcheon displaying the arms of ducal Saxony. Six ornate crested helmets with mantling rise above the shield in a symmetrical arrangement. The date is split and appears at lower left and lower right of the shield, flanking the composition. The overall design is characteristic of the elaborate armorial style prevalent on German thaler coinage of the period.
