| Reverse description | The central field displays the quartered electoral arms of Saxony within an ornate shield, surrounded by a beaded inner circle. Arranged radially around the central shield are twelve smaller escutcheons, each bearing the arms of the various lordships and territories held by the ruling house, rendered in fine relief typical of late sixteenth-century die-work. The surrounding Latin legend, running along the coin's outer border, records the titles of Landgrave of Thuringia and Margrave of Meissen, along with the designation as imperial coinage. The overall heraldic composition is dense and precisely engraved, consistent with the workshop standards of Ernestine Saxony at this period. |
