Reverse description Saint George depicted on horseback riding to the right, clad in full armor and wearing an imperial crown, his lance driving downward to slay a dragon prostrate beneath the horse's hooves. A small imperial orb appears at the top of the field above the composition. The scene is rendered in high relief in the bold German Renaissance style typical of early seventeenth-century Saxon thalers. The surrounding Latin legend, within a beaded border, proclaims the issuer's motto referencing hope and fortitude.
