| Obverse description | Armored bust of Margrave Joachim I Nestor of Brandenburg facing three-quarters to the right, wearing a plumed hat and elaborately decorated armour with ermine-trimmed mantle visible at the shoulder. The effigy fills the central field, rendered in the late Gothic style characteristic of early sixteenth-century German coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, with the circumferential Latin legend reading IOACHIM MARCHIO BRAN PRIM ELECT, identifying the ruler as Joachim, Margrave of Brandenburg and First Elector. |
