Reverse description The entire reverse field is occupied by an eight-line commemorative inscription in German, recording the margrave's birth at Cölln an der Spree on 11 June 1583, his death at Ansbach (Onolzbach) on 25 February 1625, and his reign of 22 years. The inscription is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with a partial circumferential pious legend reading 'DER HER IST MEIN SCHILT AVF DEN ICH TRAWE' running around the outer margin. Rosette stops punctuate the text. The lettering is executed in the broad, bold style characteristic of early Baroque German memorial thalers.
