Obverse description Central field displays the quartered arms of Mansfeld within an ornate Renaissance cartouche of elaborate acanthus scrollwork, surmounted by a crowned helm topped with a distinctive fan-shaped crest of reeds or plumes flanked by two small flags or streamers. The escutcheon is divided per pale, with the dexter half bearing horizontal barry stripes and the sinister half featuring lozengy (diamond) pattern, characteristic of the Mansfeld comital arms. A circular beaded inner border separates the armorial device from the outer legend, which reads the abbreviated names of the four co-ruling counts: HOIGER, GEBHAR, ALBER, and PHILP, interspersed with stops.
