Obverse lettering HENRIC DG BR-VNS E LVNE D
Reverse description Full-length standing figure of the Wild Man (Wilder Mann), the heraldic supporter of the House of Brunswick, depicted frontally at center within a beaded inner circle. The Wild Man is shown entirely covered in foliage or hair, holding a uprooted tree or club in his right hand and a leafy branch or shield in his left, with a floral crown upon his head. The date numerals appear in the lower field below the figure. The circumferential Latin legend IVSTVS NON DERELI NQVITVR ETC, a biblical motto meaning 'the righteous shall not be forsaken,' encircles the design. The composition is characteristic of the Brunswick Thaler series and the Wild Man motif emblematic of the duchy.
