Reverse description The elaborate quartered coat of arms of the House of Hanover (Brunswick-Lüneburg) occupies the central field, surmounted by an electoral bonnet (prince-elector's crown). The shield displays the multiple heraldic quarters associated with the Welf dynasty, including lions, a horse, and other dynastic charges, with the inescutcheon of the Order of the Garter visible at center. The motto of the Order of the Garter, HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE, encircles the shield as an inner legend, while the outer legend bears the motto IN RECTO DECUS and the date 1712. The mintmaster's initials H.C.B. appear at the bottom of the field, separated by a small floral ornament.
