| Reverse description | The six-fold quartered coat of arms of the House of Cirksena, Princes of East Frisia, displayed centrally within an ornate cartouche with elaborate scrollwork supporters on either side. The quarters incorporate eagles, crescents, a lion, a boar, and crossed implements representing the various lordships of the dynasty. Above the shield rise three elaborate crowned helmets with crests, the central one surmounted by a spread eagle. A circular Latin legend surrounds the composition, reading DA·PACEM·DOMINE·IN·DIEBVS·NO: ('Grant peace, O Lord, in our days'), a devotional inscription common to German Thaler coinage of the period. |
