Obverse description Draped bust of Frederick William, Elector of Brandenburg, facing right, wearing a flowing full-bottomed wig characteristic of the late 17th-century Baroque court style and an armored pauldron with decorative lace cravat visible at the neck. The high-relief portrait fills the majority of the coin's field, rendered with considerable sculptural depth. The date 1670 appears in the lower exergue beneath the bust. A Latin legend surrounds the effigy, interrupted by a six-pointed star ornament, abbreviated to denote his titles as Margrave of Brandenburg, Arch-Chamberlain and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire.
