Obverse description Armored bust of Frederick William, Elector of Brandenburg, facing right, with long flowing hair, wearing elaborately decorated plate armor with floral and starburst ornamentation; the elector holds a sheathed sword vertically before him. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque style typical of mid-17th century German coinage. A circular Latin legend runs along the entire periphery within a beaded border.
