Obverse description Half-length armored bust of Frederick IV, Elector Palatine, facing right within an inner circle, with a sword resting on the right shoulder and an orb held in the left hand. The portrait is rendered in a robust Renaissance style characteristic of early 17th-century German coinage. A beaded inner circle separates the effigy from the surrounding legend in the outer field.
