Obverse description Armored half-length bust of Elector Frederick III (the Wise) facing right, wearing a flat-brimmed cap and plate armor, holding an upright sword before him. To the left of the figure is a shield bearing a rampant lion, and to the right a shield with the Saxon barry-with-crancelin arms. A third shield bearing the Saxon electoral arms appears at the base of the figure. The circular Latin legend surrounding the portrait names all three co-rulers: FRIDERICVS ALBERTVS IOHANNES, reading around the full circumference of the coin.
