| Obverse description | Six circular medallions, each bearing a draped bust facing either left or right, are arranged around a central medallion depicting a bust facing right, all within a decorative arrangement symbolic of the ruling ducal house. The busts represent members of the Ernestine line of the House of Wettin. A Latin legend encircles the composition along the outer rim. |
