Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of King Friedrich August II of Saxony, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair swept back from the temples. The effigy occupies the central field and is executed in a restrained neoclassical style characteristic of mid-19th-century German medallic art. A beaded inner border frames the design. The circumferential legend, interrupted by a six-pointed star, reads FRIEDRICH AUGUST II. ✶ KOENIG VON SACHSEN, with the date of death † D. 9. AUG. 1854 appearing at the base of the coin below the portrait.
