Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of Emperor Ferdinand I (Ferdinand V of Hungary) occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail. The abbreviated Latin legend, arranged in two concentric lines, encircles the effigy and identifies the ruler by his full imperial and royal titles. The legend reads in two registers, with the inner register continuing the outer inscription to enumerate his numerous dominions. The portrait style is characteristic of early 19th-century Habsburg coinage, emphasizing a naturalistic likeness of the emperor.
