Obverse description Half-length armored bust of Archduke Ferdinand II of Tyrol facing right, clad in elaborately decorated armor adorned with arabesque ornamentation. The effigy is rendered in a detailed Renaissance style typical of Hall mint coinage of the late sixteenth century. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait. The circumferential legend in Latin reads FERDINANDVS D G ARCHI DVX AVSTRI.

Reverse description Elaborate composite coat of arms incorporating the arms of Hungary, Bohemia, a quartering of Castile and León, and Austria with Burgundy, surmounted by an archducal crown and encircled by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece. A small escutcheon at centre bears the Tyrolean eagle. The circumferential legend in Latin, beginning at approximately two o'clock and divided by the shield, reads DVX BVRGVNDI // COMES TIROLIS. An inner beaded circle surrounds the arms.
