| Obverse description | Half-length armoured effigy of Archduke Ferdinand II facing right, wearing a laurel-crowned helmet and plate armour, holding a sceptre in his right hand and a sword in his left, all within an inner beaded circle. A rosette ornament appears above the crowned head. The portrait is rendered in the detailed Renaissance manner characteristic of the Hall Mint workshops. The peripheral legend in Latin runs along the outer margin of the coin. |

| Reverse description | Crowned composite coat of arms displaying the quartered royal and territorial achievements of Ferdinand II, incorporating the arms of Hungary, Bohemia, a combination of Castile and León, and the ancestral arms of Austria and Burgundy. The shield is ensigned by an imperial crown and encircled by the collar and pendant badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The heraldic composition is executed in fine relief typical of late sixteenth-century Tyrolean coinage. The peripheral Latin legend identifies Ferdinand's principal ducal and comital dignities. |
