Obverse description Bust of Archduke Ferdinand II facing right, depicted in half-length, clad in ornately decorated armour featuring engraved line designs and a prominent rounded pauldron at the right shoulder. The figure holds a sceptre surmounted by a fleur-de-lis in the right hand. The legend encircles the bust within a beaded or inner border, identifying the ruler by his title and dynastic affiliation.

Reverse description Elaborate composite coat of arms displaying the dynastic quarterings of the House of Habsburg, incorporating the arms of Hungary, Bohemia, Castile and León, and the combined arms of Austria and Burgundy. A small escutcheon at the centre bears the Tyrolean eagle. The shield is surmounted by an imperial crown and encircled by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The divided legend runs around the periphery beginning at approximately the two o'clock position, with an inner circle framing the central device.
