Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of Archduke Ferdinand II facing right, wearing a crown and full plate armor richly decorated with two rows of tulip motifs and a large rounded square-form pauldron on the left shoulder. The bust is depicted in three-quarter view in the Renaissance court portrait tradition. The encircling Latin legend reads +FERDINANDVS+D×G×ARCHID×AVSTR×, identifying the ruler by name and title as Archduke of Austria by the grace of God.
