Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of Archduke Ferdinand II facing right, depicted in elaborately engraved harness-style armor and wearing an imperial crown, the apex of which does not exceed the inner circle. The figure holds a scepter in the right hand, while the left hand rests upon the pommel of a sword. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait within the inner circle.

Reverse description Quartered Spanish-style heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Archduke: first quarter Hungary, second quarter Bohemia, third quarter counterquartered Castile and Leon, fourth quarter counterquartered Austria and Burgundy. The shield is encircled by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, with the suspended fleece pendant cutting into the lower legend. The reverse bears no date.
