Obverse description Half-length effigy of Ferdinand I as a young, beardless ruler, depicted in elaborately engraved ornamental armour and facing right, holding a sceptre in one hand and a sword in the other. The portrait is rendered in a Renaissance style characteristic of early Habsburg coinage. The design is contained within a double circle, the outer border formed by a ring of beads. The Latin legend runs along the outer annulus, identifying the ruler by his titles.
