Reverse description The quartered coat of arms of Hesse-Darmstadt, surmounted by a royal crown, is displayed prominently in the center of the field. The shield is supported on either side by rampant lions serving as heraldic supporters, each standing on a small decorative plinth. The central escutcheon features the Hessian lion, with additional quartering representing the various territories of the Landgraviate. The date 1710 appears in the lower field beneath the shield, with the mintmaster's initials BIB displayed in a decorative cartouche at the bottom. The surrounding Latin legend MONETA⸰NOVA⸰ARGENTEA⸰DARMSTADINA identifies this as the new silver coinage of Darmstadt.
