| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Ernest August of Hannover, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair and characteristic curled side-whiskers. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut. The encircling legend reads ERNST AUGUST V.G.G. KOENIG V. HANNOVER in raised Latin capitals, separated by small dots, running along the inner border of a beaded rim. The mint mark letter A appears in the lower exergue beneath the portrait. |
