| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Ernst August of Hannover, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair curling behind the ear and a distinctive upswept mustache. The truncation of the bust is plain and unadorned. The encircling legend reads ERNST AUGUST V. G. G. KOENIG V. HANNOVER, distributed around the periphery within a toothed border. The mintmaster's initial S appears in the lower field beneath the bust. The portrait is executed in the classical Neoclassical style characteristic of engraver Heinrich Friedrich Brandt. |
