| Additional information |
Eberhard III ruled Württemberg through some of the most destructive decades of the Thirty Years' War, during which the duchy lost an estimated two-thirds of its population to combat, plague, and famine. By the time this thaler was struck, the Peace of Westphalia had been signed a decade prior, and the duchy was slowly reasserting its monetary independence after years of fiscal collapse. The 1659–1660 date range likely reflects a single obverse die paired across two calendar years of production — not unusual for a mint still rebuilding capacity.
