Additional information

Christina was six years old when she inherited the Swedish throne in 1632, and the regency council that governed in her name presided over Sweden's most aggressive territorial expansion — including the consolidation of Swedish Pomerania following the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. These thalers were struck under that Swedish administration of the Pomeranian duchy, a politically sensitive arrangement that required maintaining local coinage traditions while asserting Stockholm's authority.

She abdicated in 1654, which closes the date range on this type exactly.
