Additional information

Charles VI spent much of his reign fighting the War of the Spanish Succession and its diplomatic aftermath, ultimately sacrificing territorial concessions across Europe to secure recognition of the Pragmatic Sanction — his scheme to pass the Habsburg inheritance to his daughter Maria Theresa. The Prague mint was one of the few Bohemian facilities still striking full thalers by 1720, as silver supply from the Joachimsthal mines had declined sharply from their sixteenth-century peak.

Herinek's reference range for this type spans nearly eight decades of production, making die-specific attribution the only reliable method for pinning individual strikes to a given year.
