Obverse description The elaborate crowned coat of arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel occupies the central field, displaying a multi-quartered shield bearing the heraldic devices of the duchy, surmounted by a large ducal crown. Two nude male figures serve as supporters, flanking the shield on either side and resting upon a foliate cartouche at the base. The surrounding legend reads D • G • CAROLVS DVX BRVNSVIC LVNEB with the date 1752, distributed around the upper periphery. The coin's milled border frames the composition with a fine beaded inner circle. The overall design reflects the high Baroque engraving style characteristic of mid-eighteenth-century German coinage.
