Obverse description Central quartered coat of arms displaying the multiple heraldic bearings of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield is supported on either side by two standing wildmen (Wilde Männer) in naturalistic style, each holding a staff. The entire composition rests on a decorative foliate base. The circumferential Latin legend, reading D • G • CAROLVS - DVX • BRVNSVIC • - LVNEB • 1748, is distributed around the periphery of the coin within a milled border.
