Reverse description The Wild Man (Wilder Mann), the traditional heraldic supporter and symbol of the House of Brunswick, stands facing in the field, his body covered in body hair and girdled with a wreath of leaves about his loins. His left hand rests on his hip while his right hand grasps a tall uprooted pine tree standing to his right. He stands upon a grassy mound with small trees at his feet. The motto legend NUNQUAM RETRORSVM arcs around the upper field, and the mintmaster's initials I•B•H• appear in the lower exergue.
