| Obverse description | Draped and armored bust of Charles Alexander of Lorraine facing right, wearing a cravat and the cross of the Teutonic Order at his chest, his hair styled in loose curls. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the drapery and armor. The encircling legend reads D • G • CAROL • ALE • - DUX LOTH • ET BAR •, divided by the portrait. A small engraver's initial appears at the lower left of the bust truncation. The coin field is smooth and unadorned, with a fine toothed border along the rim. |
