Additional information

Henneberg-Ilmenau's Ausbeutetaler issues were struck directly from silver extracted from the county's own mines — the term "Ausbeute" denoting profit-share coinage, a practice by which German mining lords converted their royalty yields into commemorative currency rather than bullion. By 1699 the Ilmenau mines were already in decline, making late-series strikes like this one produced in comparatively small numbers. Müseler's classification of the type reflects just how thinly these issues are distributed across the series.
